This is a novel sundial erected for the Epwell Millennium celebrations. It works by placing a stick in the hole in the middle. The slate blobs around the outside mark the hours, and obviously the shadow of the stick does the rest. We did not have a stick to demonstrate so other methods of telling the time will have to confirm it was 0945 (BST), 0845 (GMT). The largest slate is a map of the village, the two side ones give lists of contributors and the bottom one explains how it works. Its position in context is shown here Image]
