Another of Newcastle's Masterpieces of Modern Architecture https://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=109769006 built c 1969 in the form, now sadly familiar all over the country, of a low but extensive podium of shops out of which emerge tall towers of flats or offices. Here, it was a tall slab block (mercifully only 9 storeys) of concrete-faced hotel, that dominates the views of, and from, such historic spaces as Bigg Market. The whole centre was refurbished in 1994. The western side of the hotel is shown in Image (photographed by Andrew Curtis).
