Lodge Farm Reservoir, also known as Netherton Reservoir, was opened in 1838 after three years in the making as a feeder reservoir for the Dudley Canal. It continues as a canal feeder and now also as a watersports facility. On nationalisation in 1948 it became part of the BCN - Birmingham Canal Navigation - and was sold to Dudley Council in 1966 as a leisure facility. The photo was taken on the afternoon of a Railway Ramblers walk from Cradley Heath to Saltwells via Mushroom Green. Time taken 3.55 pm BST (British Summer Time).
