One of the symbols of the regeneration of the former Manchester Docks into Salford Quays is the proliferation of high rise apartments. The ones here are on the northern side of Huron Basin which was previously the middle section of dock 9. The three furthest from the camera are the NV buildings which were completed in 2004; three almost identical buildings, designed to appear from the east and west as 'sail' sculptures, echoing the area's maritime history. The two nearest the camera form the City Lofts development which is made up of a 19-storey tower and a 9-storey block tucked in between the tower and the NV Buildings. The City Lofts development was completed in 2007. This view is from the Air Shard viewing platform at the Imperial War Museum North.
