The tower arms stands somewhat forlornly in South Weald these days as it has been closed for some time. However due to a fight back by locals and Camra members the building is now listed by Brentwood Council as an "Asset of Community Value". This will make it a little more difficult for developers to turn it in to an express supermarket or flats. Let's hope it can be saved and reopen as a pub once more.
