I liked this sign because it simply tells the story of a scene in English history. The Royal Oak was the English oak tree within which King Charles II hid to escape the Roundheads following the Battle of Worcester in 1651 - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Oak The King's head can be made out in the left hand part of the tree while the Roundheads on the right are looking in the opposite direction. Below the tree is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
