A stone gatepost on the track up to Fountains Earth Moor carries a 19th century bench mark and a 21st century Six Dales Trail marker.the Six Dales Trail was opened in 2010 having been devised by John Sparshatt as a 38 mile scenic route between Otley and Middleham. John is a Geograph member as well as being a very active member of the LDWA (Long Distance Walking Association)
