Middleton sub-station under construction

This is a new 400kV sub-station to accommodate additional off-shore wind generation. This will require the pylon on the right to be replaced by 2 new towers. In the foreground, the vegetation below the 400kV line has been cut down (which does at least give a view of the works). Groundworks are in progress in preparation for the new towers.
