Mathew Street, or the Cavern Quarter as the area is now known, proclaims itself to be “The Birthplace of the Beatles” as they played nearly 300 shows between February 1961 and August 1963 in the Cavern club on Mathew Street. Today, it is home to a number of Beatles-themed pubs and shops selling Beatles Memorabilia as well as the reopened Cavern Club.
