The Radio City viewing gallery at St John’s Beacon provides excellent panoramic views of the city and beyond (http://www.radiocity.co.uk/local/radio-city-viewing-gallery/ Radio City). In this view towards the Mersey and Pierhead, the most obvious landmark is the Port of Liverpool Building with its distinctive dome; a grade II* listed building (English Heritage Building ID: 214149 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-214149-port-of-liverpool-building-and-stone-bal#.VUJPWWd0x_s British Listed Buildings) dating from 1907. The large tower building in front of that is the George's Dock Ventilation and Central Station of the Mersey Road Tunnel, a Portland tower built 1924-32 as part of the Mersey Road Tunnel. It is grade II-listed (English Heritage Building ID: 214148 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-214148-george-s-dock-ventilation-and-central-st#.VUJQjGd0x_s British Listed Buildings).
