Located in the coastal suburb of Pensarn, Abergele and Pensarn railway station on the North Wales Coast Line serves the North Wales town of Abergele. The station was first opened in 1848 the Chester and Holyhead Railway. The main station building/booking hall, on the right hand side in this photograph, probably dates from 1883 when the station was extensively modified. It is grade II-listed (Cadw ID: 18703 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/wa-18703-abergele-and-pensarn-railway-station-book#.VTytnWd0x_s British Listed Buildings) as "a good and relatively unaltered example of a railway building of the 1883 period, using terracotta, one of the group of four contemporary buildings at Abergele station". The signal box at the far end is also a grade II listed building (Cadw ID: 18706 http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/wa-18706-signal-box-at-abergele-and-pensarn-railwa#.VTyxv2d0x_s British Listed Buildings). It is a LNW Type 4 signal box built ca1897.
