The photograph of Hartfield Road is taken near where it crosses Kent Water. This is a tributary of the River Medway and forms the county boundary between East Sussex and Kent. It is followed here by the Sussex Border Path. The cottages on the other side of Hartfield Road are appropriately called Kentwater Cottages.
