The Church is Grade II Listed and the English Heritage website describes the exterior thus:- "Originally a small church mainly of circa 1200, much altered 1811 and restored 1874-6, now with a large extension of 1960-62 by John Glanfield. Exterior rendered. Lady chapel and crenellated tower of circa 1530." The church once served the small rural parish of Digswell, but is now in the built-up Digswell Park area of Welwyn Garden City, hence the need for the 1960s extension to cater for the then much expanded congregation. It is on the road known as Monks Rise.
