The Barrow Hill Arm of the Charnwood Forest Canal

This is an isolated surviving section of the Charnwood Forest Canal, close to Barrow Hill Quarry. The canal was supposed to be connected to the quarries at Barrow Hill and Cloud Hill by tramroads but it is thought that only the short line to Barrow Hill was ever built. The canal bed between the section pictured and Ashby Road has been filled in.
