The stream, in this southerly facing photograph, is one of the water courses of Thornton Beck and is flowing in the direction of shot. The viewpoint of this photograph is opposite (on the other side of the road) an alley called Archway Lane, which joins Malton Gate at this point. The private dwellings in the photograph are Sunholme and Bishops Garth (farthest).
