The former world light heavyweight boxing champion attended St Michael's School in Somerville Road, Bournemouth, leaving at the age of 14 to become an apprentice milkman. This blue plaque is located on the modern school building that was built on the site of the old school. After a glittering boxing career, Freddie Mills ended his life in a somewhat controversial and tragic suicide outside his London nightclub in 1965. Image Image
