Canada Common is heavily grazed by commoners' stock, and as a result most of the ground cover is grass rather than heather. There are occasional gorse clumps, as well as isolated pine and silver birch trees. On the eastern edge there area also rhododendron bushes, such as the one in this photo, that have spread from the gardens of properties on the edge of the Common. The brick building in the background is the Primitive Methodist Chapel (built 1901).
