The old brickwork stack from the Thomas Lawrence brickworks that occupied a site to the south of the park. It would appear that the stack has been re-erected in what is now Goddard Park when the area of the brickworks was redeveloped for housing in the 1980s. The stack also appears to be shorter than it was according to a photograph taken in the 1970s before the brickworks closed.
