Built c 1839 for Richard Grainger. The corner property is decorated with giant Corinthian pilasters that continue round into Shakespeare Street. No.52 has short Tuscan pilasters to the first floor windows. The lower parts of all the sash windows (except for the attic floor) have had their glazing bars removed.
