I took this because I found the building very appealing with its solid stone construction and cast ironwork spanning what had probably been a large window. I only subsequently discovered this was a remnant of the former municipal gas works and built 1899. The manager's house is out of sight to the left and dated 1872. Gas making ended in 1958 and the site has otherwise been cleared.
