The Baptist chapel was built at Deeping St James during the early 19th century on a site overlooking the River Welland where the opening was marked with a mass baptism in 1840. The building has now been converted into a private residence but the stone tablet over the door bearing the date 1839 and the inscription Cave Adullam has been retained.
