Built in 1891 by Alfred Waterhouse, the architect of Image (photographed by Keith Williamson), for the Prudential Assurance Company. One of only a handful of buildings in Newcastle built of red sandstone. The building is Grade II listed http://list.historicengland.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1024805 .
