The herbarium was built in 1964 and contains almost 3 million plant specimens, as well as many fungi http://www.rbge.org.uk/science/herbarium. RBGE's Library and Archive is Scotland's national reference collection for specialist botanical and horticultural resources, and is one of the country's largest research libraries http://www.rbge.org.uk/science/library-and-archives.
