Buttresses remain from a complex railway junction. Here the Alyth Railway, Newtyle and Coupar Angus Railway and the main line through Strathmore meet. The buttress belongs to the Newtyle and Coupar Angus Railway which linked Dundee and Coupar Angus. The path runs between that trackbed and the remains of the Alyth Railway. The Alyth Railway closed to passengers in 1951.
