The gasholders of the former Liverpool Street Gasworks made famous in Ewan McColl's "Dirty Old Town" ("I found my love by the gasworks croft/Dreamed a dream by the old canal…" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baFIaOGkN90 ) appear to be all that remains of Salford Gas Works. The position of the gasometers (and those that used to be nearby at Regent Road) can be seen on the OS map of 1896 http://goo.gl/f2eiLr .
