Delays in Longriggend

The yellow signs warns of delays of up to 10 minutes. The work being undertaken was replacing a conventional set of overhead wires with a single bundle of modern insulated cables. You can see a man working near the top of the telegraph pole beside the old Free Kirk. The kirk dates from 1880 and was designed by George Arthur to serve the population of what was a sizeable mining village of which next to nothing survives.
