Bench mark on former stable

This bench mark was established in 1848 during the First primary levelling of England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 220.7130 feet [67.2733 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Birmingham to London levelling line. The surveyor's description was "No. 64. Mark on stable at the Seven Stars Inn, East side of road ; 1.33 ft. above centre of road" (p221). The 1887 map shows this mark on the south-west face about 5m from the north end of stables. The mark does not appear on subsequent maps or on the OS database, but the building survives and the large mark is easy to find, facing the road, on what is now an outbuilding of the Folly Lane Football Club.
