Taken from Ings Lane, the pylon serves the power line which runs up the Vale of Pickering supplying electricity to Scarborough and district. The lake on the right, part of Wykeham Lakes, is the result of aggregates quarrying and is more extensive than shown on the current OS map. This is an area of intensive agriculture.
