This Grade II* listed building dates from 1912 to a design by Arthur McKewan. John Ashford & Son were one of Birmingham's many jewellery manufacturers. In 1929 they exhibited at the British Industries Fair and were described as manufacturers of rolled gold, hall-marked silver, gilt, sterling silver, and gilt enamel links, studs and collar pins and also best quality mother-of-pearl links, studs and buttons. The firm was originally established in 1850 and were still in business in 1958 at this address and probably later. Currently the building appears to be to let.
