St Peter’s Church stands on the side of a hill and its distinctive broach spire can be seen as you approach on narrow roads. The churchyard has tall firs and clipped yews and on the 600-year-old tower is a boldly marked sundial that has told the time on sunny days since 1824 while the chancel contains the remarkable tomb of the Armyne family who lived here during the time of Queen Elizabeth I.
