This plaque is on one of the pillars of the main entrance gates to the park, in Kidderminster Road (A448). The park is on land given to the local authority by the Sanders sisters. Some sources give a date of 1910, but it seems the land had long been used, officially or otherwise, by the local population as an open space. However it was not formally opened as a park until 1968.
