This recently erected war memorial on the village green was dedicated at a service on 11 February 2012. Morley Green United Reformed Church (The old Morley Green Chapel) closed in April 2010 after nearly 150 years in the village. It was decided that the remaining chapel funds and gifts given at the final service would go towards a public war memorial in the centre of the village to honour soldiers whose names were previously on plaques inside the chapel. The new memorial commemorates not only those from the village who died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars but also the Chapel, which existed from 1869-2010. http://www.macclesfield-express.co.uk/news/local-news/chapel-funds-fitting-tribute-2527215 Macclesfield Express
