Departmental Class 936 "Sandite" unit. This was a Class 311(103) Glasgow suburban "Blue Train" and is one of the only two 311s which survived the mass disposal phase in the 80s. These units were converted into "Sandite" sets, which were used to spread a thick paste onto the rails when track adhesion was low. Summerlee plans to clean up and restore 103 to its previous class 311 form. This is particularly important since this is the only "Blue Train" which still contains the famous original interior.
