The hotel is grade 2 listed (list entry 1390148). Dating from the 18th century and originally called Diglis House, it was once the home of Edward Leader Williams, Chief Engineer to the Severn Navigation Commission, and his son, Benjamin Williams Leader, landscape artist and to whom there is a plaque on the gatepost Image
