The village school was built at Pointon in the mid-19th century with room for 150 children but was particularly important to the community because it also contained a parochial library of 180 books. The building is still in use as the St. Gilbert of Sempringham Church of England Primary School and a stone plaque on the end gable bears the date 1863.
