As viewed from the road below, Southern Railway 'H' class tank engine 31193 (and one or more carriages) crosses over an embankment arch which has been partly filled in for the garaging of buses. This class of steam engine is designated 0-4-4T and was designed by the engineer Wainwright for the South East and Chatham Railway. This particular locomotive was built in December 1909 and was withdrawn in March 1961.
