The tower is Saxon, the chancel 16th century, and the nave 18th century. In the chancel of the church of St Michael is the tomb of Sir Christopher Wray, (died 7th May 1592), Queen Elizabeth I’s Lord Chief Justice and the monument of his Great Great Grand Daughter Elizabeth Sanderson, who died 7th April 1714.
