Industrial Works on site of former Plenmeller Colliery

There is another photo here Image The factory is that of RPC Containers Ltd., manufacturers of blow-moulded plastic containers used by some 220 customers including household brand names including Sarson’s vinegar, Saxo salt and Carplan screen wash. The colliery closed in 1932, and the halt was abandoned. During World War II a Ministry of Supplies depot was opened, and the halt was revived until 1946. Later, employees of the Cascelloid factory unofficially joined or alighted from trains at Plenmeller, although the platform had been removed.
