Royal London House was commenced in 1955 on the ruins of the old Metropole Hotel, severely damaged in a Luftwaffe bombing raid in 1943. It opened in 1958, and housed offices on its upper floors with shops at street level. Much of the office space is occupied by Bournemouth University, hence the BU logo visible at the bottom left of this photo.
