It's difficult to believe now but a railway once went across this field crossing the small watercourse in the distance between the single tree to the right and the line of trees to the left. Despite the lack of evidence looking along the alignment at ground level, the route is clearly marked with a scar when viewed in satellite imagery. The railway in question was the Stratford on Avon, Towcester & Midland Junction Railway which opened in 1891 and closed in 1952. This is the view looking in the direction of Olney, which was the eastern terminus of the line, from the bridge that took and still takes Ashton Road over the line.
