This carved plaque on the wall of the watch house at Prestongrange church sends out a reminder of man's earthly mortality: "Memento Mori" - remember you will die. The skull, or death's head, glares down from the crossed bones on the passer by. As if that wasn't enough, the hour-glass at the top shows that our time is running out. Cheery stuff!
