The B3055 from Brockenhurst makes a sharp right turn here - it's possible that originally the road led to Ladycross Lodge, and was later extended from here across Beaulieu Heath to the Hatchet Gate of the Beaulieu Estate. The green sign in the foreground is information for walkers, riders and off-road cyclists; Woodfidley is about 2 miles northeast of this spot, on the far side of the densely wooded area.
