The road was laid out in the first decade of the 20th century though development was intermittent along it. This is the western junction with Queens Road located on a former field called Mill Field, according to Cuckfield's 1843 tithe map. The buildings on the left are part of Gordon Close built on the former site of Griffins Garage.
