Row of traditional cottages at the top end of the town. Houses of this sort of age are generally of limestone in Kirkby, and also in Gillamoor some 2.5mls north, but in Hutton le Hole, a similar distance to the NE, they are mostly of sandstone. Local geology very much influences building materials in this area.
