This is Wildwood Road in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Hampstead Garden Suburb was founded in 1907 by Henrietta Barnett to be a model community where all classes of people could live together in attractive surroundings and social harmony. The Suburb is now very much the preserve of the super-rich. This house which has a blue plaque to Frank Pick is not untypical. It backs on to Hampstead Heath Extension. Frank Pick was best-known for his time as Chief Executive Officer and Vice-Chairman of the London Passenger Transport Board from its creation in 1933 until 1940. He was identified with the go-ahead policies of London Transport during the 1920s and 1930s and the image which was created then. He brought in leading architects to design the new Underground stations, many of which are now listed buildings. A full biography can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Pick
