The spot height of 179m appears to be the summit of the high ground between Coniston Water and Torver Beck. Much of this is taken up by Torver Back Common but this particular summit is in a separate, walled enclosure. I had to climb the wall to reach this point despite it being CRoW access land. The reward is an extensive panorama over Torver Beck valley to the much more impressive fells of Dow Crag and the Old Man of Coniston, today draped in snow and ice.
