The wide open skies of the fens with the possibility of dawn to dusk sunlight are the perfect location for solar farms which are springing up in many places such as here at Limes Farm off the A151 near Bourne where 20,000 photovoltaic panels have been installed, all mounted on racks fixed to the ground and tilted towards the sun and capable of generating enough energy to provide power for 1,400 homes.
