The Swanley to Sevenoaks Bat & Ball line was opened on 2nd June 1862 by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway Company. Bat & Ball station was opened on the same day when it was called 'Sevenoaks'. It was renamed 'Sevenoaks Bat & Ball', and in 1950 was renamed 'Bat & Ball'. The name derives from the former Bat & Ball Inn. Electric services between Bickley and Sevenoaks were introduced on 6th January 1935.
