It's early October 2014. The day is seasonably mild (about 15 degrees Celsius) but not warm. Many people have freezers in which ice cream bought in supermarkets or elsewhere can be stored, yet the Mr Whippy van is doing brisk business here today. It must be something to do with the lure of the chimes...
