The town cemetery opened in South Road, Bourne, in 1855 because there was no more room in the churchyard and since then there have been more than 10,000 burials and the original four acres almost doubled. More space is now needed and Bourne Town Council is currently negotiating for additional land to cope with future demand for an expanding town.
